DEPTH
Our firm is comprised of twelve lawyers, most of whom are experienced in all aspects of bankruptcy practice, from workouts to post-confirmation issues. We are well-versed in Arizona business law, including real estate, water law, U.C.C. and other commercial law areas. We have three paralegals and experienced staff to support filings, noticing, and other support functions. You won’t find this depth of knowledge and professionals related to bankruptcy in many firms our size. .

Two of our partners are certified in Business Bankruptcy Law from the ABC.  David Wm. Engelman brings a longstanding commitment to efficient and effective client service developed over 25 years as a solo practitioner. He integrates that style with a similar commitment to providing quality legal services to his clients. The success of this approach is evidenced by the retention of clients for over 30 years.
David is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on commercial law. Mr. Engelman has engaged in a wide variety of areas over his career, but concentrates his practice on insolvency issues, debt resolution, business matters, and banking and credit union law.

 Steven N. Berger co-founded the firm in 1999, after practicing at two of Arizona’s largest law firms. Mr. Berger concentrates his practice on assisting business owners, lenders, lessors, and other parties in resolving commercial disputes, with an emphasis on matters pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court or involving troubled loans or troubled businesses.
Mr. Berger represents parties in all facets of commercial bankruptcy and reorganization cases. He has been recognized in the nationally published “The Best Lawyers in America,” in the “Best of the Bar,” published by the Arizona Business Journal, and achieved an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell. Mr. Berger is a member of the panel of mediators listed by the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Arizona.

 Sott B. Cohen's approach to law practice is first and foremost as a problem solver. Since 1992, Scott has focused his practice on providing clients with negotiated or litigated solutions in commercial disputes. He represents lenders, creditors, borrowers, landlords, guarantors, and debtors in all aspects of commercial insolvency law.  Wade M. Burgeson focuses his efforts in representing clients in debtor-creditor related matters, ranging from pre-judgment remedies to disputes in bankruptcy court. Wade joined the firm in 2001 as an experienced attorney having previously represented diverse business interests in both litigation and transactional matters. Wade began his legal career in Bullhead City, Arizona, where he represented business owners, gaming interests, a regional airport, and the local municipality. Mr. Burgeson has extensive experience practicing before both state and federal courts and has tried numerous bench and jury trials. Mr. Burgeson currently focuses on representing borrowers, lenders, and related parties in bankruptcy litigation, loan disputes, and enforcement of lender’s rights. Wade became a partner in the firm in 2006.

 Bradley D. Pack joins Engelman Berger after completing a clerkship for the Arizona Court of Appeals, Hon. Susan A. Ehrlich. In 2005, Bradley graduated from the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law, summa cum laude. Bradley received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University, having majored in Labor Studies and Industrial Relations, and minored in Economics. He was recognized in Phi Beta Kappa and the Golden Key National Honor Society for his excellent performance.
While at U of A, Bradley was a member of the National Moot Court competition team, received awards for excellent written and oral advocacy skills, and served as Research Editor for the Arizona Law Review. Bradley also published the article FOIA Frustration, 46 Ariz. L. Rev. 815 (2004) and was a Member of Order of the Coif.

 Patrick Clisham joined Engelman Berger in 2009, after several years of practice with a well-known Chicago bankruptcy boutique firm. He concentrates his practice on protecting and advancing the financial interests of secured and unsecured creditors and business debtors in the transactional and litigation- related aspects of the bankruptcy, reorganization and loan workouts.
In particular, Mr. Clisham has experience representing individuals and corporate debtors through all aspects of chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and bankruptcy trustees and creditors in the prosecution defense of various contested matters and adversary proceedings arising under the Bankruptcy Code..
