William H. Anger Phoenix Bankruptcy LawyersPatrick Clisham joined Engelman Berger in 2009, after several years of practice with a well-known Chicago bankruptcy boutique firm. He concentrates his practice on protecting and advancing the financial interests of secured and unsecured creditors and business debtors in the transactional and litigation- related aspects of the bankruptcy, reorganization and loan workouts.

In particular, Mr. Clisham has experience representing individuals and corporate debtors through all aspects of chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and bankruptcy trustees and creditors in the prosecution defense of various contested matters and adversary proceedings arising under the Bankruptcy Code. Illustrative of representations are the following:
  • Representation of international manufacturer and wholesaler of consumer goods in Chapter 11 proceedings, including a sale of the debtor's operating assets as going concern.

  • Representation of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in the $50 million liquidation of international boat manufacturer, including the prosecution of avoidance actions and the resolution of more than $2 billion in claims.

  • Representation of the trustee of post confirmation liquidating trust in negotiations and settlement of environmental claims and reclamation processes with the U.S. EPA and various state agencies.

Mr. Clisham earned his Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University College of Law, cum laude, in 2002. He earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University in 1992.

Mr. Clisham's prior bankruptcy experience includes practicing as an Extern with the United States Trustee's Office in Chicago, Illinois (2002) and as Bankruptcy Associate at the Chicago law firm of Shaw Gussis Fishman Glantz Wolfson & Towbin LLC (2004-2009). Mr. Clisham also has considerable business and financial experience. Mr. Clisham is a former Member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (1996-2001) and he previously served as Assistant Vice-President of Law & Government Affairs for AT&T Communications (2002-2004).

Mr. Clisham is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. In 2007, Mr. Clisham received the Award For Excellence in Public Interests Legal Education from the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for his role in developing and advancing the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (C.A.R.E.) Program in Chicago.

Mr. Clisham is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Arizona and Illinois and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Federal Circuits.
