Todd B. Tuggle focuses his practice on asserting the rights of lenders and borrowers in litigation. He joined Engelman Berger in 2007 with substantial experience representing clients in litigation matters in state, federal and bankruptcy Court. Mr. Tuggle has represented national lenders and previously practiced with a large Arizona firm and a national law firm with offices in Scottsdale.
Todd started his career as a law clerk for the Hon. Robert Clive Jones, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ Bankruptcy Appellate Panel and a Bankruptcy Judge, District of Nevada. He then went on to practice for eight years in commercial litigation with firms in Arizona and Nevada representing financial institutions and other parties in state and federal court, and the United States Bankruptcy Court.
Specific examples of Mr. Tuggle's representations include the following:
- Represented corporate clients in conjunction with stock options backdating litigation.
- Represented national lender in mortgage backed securities litigation.
- Represented corporate director in breach of fiduciary duty litigation.
- Represented local and regional lenders in asset protection litigation.
- Represented national lender in loan workouts for distressed properties.
- Represented purchaser of credit card charge off accounts in litigation asserting fraudulent inducement by credit card company.
Accolades & Awards:
Todd graduated Cum Laude in 1996 from the J. Ruben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University. While in law school, Todd was an award winning member of the National Moot Court competition team, elected to the Order of the Barristers and was awarded the A.H. Christensen Memorial Advocacy Award. Todd also served as a law clerk for the Utah Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division. On full academic scholarship, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese. He also collaborated in developing the curriculum for the "Wright Leadership Seminar" devoted to developing leadership skills.
In addition to his steady caseload, Todd enjoys doing Pro Bono work for The Boy Scouts of America, Grand Canyon Council, Firebird District. Todd is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Maricopa County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the courts of Arizona and Nevada.
